He is best known for sewing machines, which have been renamed Singer Manufacturing Company in 1865 and Singer Company in 1963. And now part of SVP Worldwide, owner of Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking brands, which in turn is owned by Kohlberg & Company, which bought the singer in 2004.
