Do employers consider hobbies on a resume?
Like many people now, I’m hunting for a job. All the sites I go to have a section titled “Interests & Hobbies” on the so-called resume page.
I’m wondering if employers (or the automated resume scanners) care about items listed in said section if those items directly relate to the job they are looking to fill.
The example here is that I’m looking for a technical job in the field of electronic component/microprocessor design (I’ve never worked in the field though); and the hobbies I list are directly related to that field.
They used to, but, now it is more annoying to the employer than ever, be short, be concise and get to the point. Don’t put an address, no one is going to mail you anything, put a telephone and email address, (a decent email, no one is emailing to “demonvictor02″ list what type of job you are wanting using the technical terms of the industry, when they do a resume search those pop up and they will see you, list in detail job experience, because those pop up to, but, no Personal references, they will do a background check if they want. telephone number for previous employer, but only if you left on good terms, if you didn’t leave them off!
GOOD LUCK I know it hard out there, and don’t pay an internet site to do your resume, there are free sites and a lot of resume resources you don’t need to pay for.
